So, the reason you are reading this is because I have some tips for you. I put these tips in the instructions but I don't think all of you are reading them even though I begged you too :P Dorks. hehe Anyway, it's probably much easier to explain with pictures anyway so here we go.
Tip #1 - ACK! My shadows are in the wrong place! Try as I may to make the shadows ALWAYS show up in the right spot.. it doesn't always work. Especially with the concave action. That's ok though, it takes two seconds to put it in the right spot!
The best way to bump the layer down is to:
- select the shadow layer
- unlink it if it isn't already unlinked
- select the Move tool (hit V)
- Use your arrow keys, hit the up or down arrow a few times until the shadow is in the right spot.
As shown above, the shadow for the concave action is in the right spot when it's just barely visible at the bottom corners. The shadow for the convex action is in the right spot when it's just barely visible in the very center.
There, easy one huh!
Tip #2 - Bend that text too! Planning on bending a journaling block or title block or something? STOP! Add your text first, merge them, then bend them together!
Here's a before and after (I am realizing after the fact it's a crappy example but trust me.. normally, it will make a big difference)
and here's a little tutorial to help you.
Don't flatten the image, just merge the two layers. Then run the action!
That's all the tips I got for you today but hopefully they'll help your bends look even more realistic!
