My mom asked for pictures of our Thanksgiving meal since it was the first one I've hosted. Adam's family came to town and we celebrated on Friday (Thursday we had a big fish fry for dinner - yum!)
So here we go. I made about 1/2 the food and Adam's mom, Trish, made the rest.
It was so moist and delicious!
My rolls - again, I used Pioneer Woman's recipe for Buttered Rosemary Rolls
Trish made the Sweet Potatoes
I made the carrots - they turned out to be a big hit! Guess whose recipe I used? Trish made the cranberry relish you see in the background.
Trish made the 7 Layer Salad and the Stuffing
We each made a dessert. She made this Apricot Meringue thing which is a favorite of everyone's. It's flavor simply cannot be explained in a way that would make anyone realize how delicious it is.
It was the best Pumpkin Pie ever. We had it for breakfast on Saturday morning since everyone stayed the night and we were all too full to eat it after dinner.
I've discovered that making pie crusts is pretty much the hardest thing you could ever try to cook in the world. I gave up trying to roll out a thin sheet and wound up just creating a patchwork. It worked though.
As good as the dinner was, heating up the leftovers for dinner on Saturday was even better. Maybe it was the lack of stress and the ability to just relax and nuke a plate.
What did you guys cook this year that was new or different or better than ever?
