Happy Memorial Day

How long do you think it should take 2 people to get ready to go to the pool that is about 10 feet from their back door.  Maybe...  2...3... at the most 5 minutes?  Yes.. I suppose if they were normal people, but for some reason, it took about 40 for Adam and I to get our butts out the door. (Adam was convinced he had sunglasses here somewhere and had to search the entire house.. I finally made him wear a pair of my big red glam glasses.. too funny).  Anyway, by the time we walked out the back door, it was raining...  sigh.  It stopped about 30 minutes later though so we were able to go enjoy the sun for a few hours before the sky opened up again.

In honor of Memorial day I scrapped this photo of my dad with some Korean school children from his army days.

Went to a wedding last night (and benefit shopping!)

Quinn and Kristin got married last night at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago.  Adam was at a bachelor party so I had to go stag.  It was a very small and beautiful ceremony albiet extremely hot and humid (especially in the desert room!)  Here's a few pics.

This is me and my best friend from work, Dave.  I wish I would have taken a picture of myself earlier in the night when my makeup looked pretty.. oh well, this is what you get after 4 hours of sweating in a conservatory... :)

So I'm on this medicine and I can't drink for 3 weeks... sure does take a lot of fun out of a wedding! On the upside, I was able to drive myself home and wasn't puking on my nice clothes like other not-so-smart folks at the wedding.  (I'm sure you all wanted to know that, right?)

So... since I wanted to look pretty at the wedding I went to Benefit to get my makeup done.  Love their products!  I bought a lot, some of it is to replace things I'm low on, some is brand new.  here's what I got.

so yeah... i'm all set on makeup for a while. My main goal in these products was my eyes. They are always so baggy 'cause I'm a crappy sleeper. The Boi-ing with the Oh la la Lift make my eyes look nice and rested!

Ok, that's the end of my Katie the Scrapbook Lady inspired layouts :) Moving on.

Remember the kit preview I showed you the other day for Cindy Simon's new kit, Sunday Mist?  Well I got to scrap with it already! I did this layout for Gina Miller's Sketch Challenge at SBB.  This is my brother and I getting our Christmas photo taken back in 2002.  The middle little pic has both of our cats in it.

I think I've had a pretty productive day today so be prepared for a lot of sharing!

First off, wanna see what I spent a majority of the day doing?  I made an album! It's 8x8 and I created it using my 8x8 Post Bound Album kit.  If you haven't used the kits yet, let me tell you about them.  They come with pre-cut and drilled acid-free bookboard, screw posts, and page protectors.  The instructions to put them together are on my website.  They are really easy and fun and it's an awesome way to have a totally customized album.  I needed something to store all my printed digital pages in so this is what I came up with:

 

I used fabric paper by Michael Miller and the Making Memories Tag Maker.  Here's a few more shots of my completed album with some printed digital pages in it.

I also finally decided how to finish this layout.. I posted it a while back but never figured out what I wanted to do with the right side...  I remembered this Dave Matthews song called "I'll Back You Up" and borrowed some of the lyrics from it.  This is me and my brother back in '82.

I have lots of stuff to post but it's late and I'm sleepy!  Made a few pages this weekend and have a few templates. Haven't posted anything yet because I'm still deciding which ones I should save for my July article at SS Reflections.  We went putt-putt today with Brent and Jayme and then hung out at Brent's drinking margaritas, eating burgers and playing lots of games.  Fun stuff.  We used an Entertainment Book coupon for putt-putt. I just remembered that I bought this thing (like 6 months ago) so we are trying to take advantage as much as we can now.  ok... will be back tomorrow with some pages and at least one sketch freebie.  Goodnight!!!!

Sally Gardner Jewelry

Well yesterday was the 15th and that means that Sally Gardner's website is ready for you to go shopping!  I still need to fix her gallery for her but I'll do that tonight. In the mean time, go shopping!

And I've been drooling over this one for about 6 months.. I just can't justify it as I already have this exact same bracelet just in all pink (no green) and where am I gonna need a pink and green one where I can't just where the pink one? I LOVE this one so much though!!!!!

Anyway, Sally has a bunch of stuff up her in store and she will add new stuff twice a month (her beer mug earrings are already sold out for the month!!!!) By the way, I talked to her about martini glass earrings as some of you requested and she said she'd see what she could do. She was curious about how she would work the stems...Oh one other thing.. if you like the pendants but don't like the cording it comes on just email her and she'll be happy to change it for. I tend to like my pendants on silk cords instead of the rubber but she could also do brown leather or silver chains or whatever you want!

Oh my gosh did they seriously kill off Sarah?  I'm beyond depressed... how are her and Michael gonna go to Mexico and have babies?  :(

Ok can we talk BULLSH*T for a second. Some genious decided to air the season finale of Grey's Anatomy at the exact same time as the season finale of Prison Break. WHAT?!?!?! I mean seriously.... how is that possibly cool?

On a happier note... Today we went out to celebrate Jordan's journey into married bliss with High Tea at the Drake Hotel. It was very fun and fancy! Here's our group picture:

I got some new Sally Gardner Jewelry (freebie down there too!)

Sally Gardner is my friend Dustin's mom.  She is a glass jewelry artist and her stuff is incredible. Everytime I go over to her house I drop a few hundred bucks.  I love my Sally Gardner bling.  Anyway, I had been BEGGING Sally to let me make a website for her so she could sell her stuff on-line and after lots of pleading she finally agreed!  Sally's website is almost ready and she will be selling her stuff on the 15th of this month!  (She already has most of her merchandise entered into the system so she just needs to make it live once she has some other details done)  In the mean time, wanna see what I picked up as payment this weekend?  Of course you do! I left all the images big so you can click on them and see the details of the beads.

First off, Sally has these brand new tropical pendants that I thought would be perfect to wear down on Hutchinson Island (mom, do you want one of these?  You can get it on any different chain, I just love the silk.. silver chains, leather cords, rubber, whatever you want).  Also, 2 more flower pendant necklaces to make 3 total that i have so far - LOVE these!!!  ($25 a piece)

I also got 2 more three-bead bangles.  I think I have 5 of these now.. maybe 6.. these are so comfortable to wear, they come in three different sizes and are $40 each. 

So you'll see I got a lot of turquoise stuff this weekend.. that was my goal, I wanted dressy and casual turquoise.  This is my dressy.  That pendant is huge and so gorgeous.  The chain is sterling silver and has a very artsy look to it.  Matching earrings to go with it too.  This set is $70.

And last but not least...  Sally has made something special for all of us beer lovers out there!!  These are $18 and will be perfect for all of our beer events.  I grabbed 2 pair of these (one for a friend). 

So, it was National Scrapbook Day on Saturday but I was in Michigan for Aaron's graduation so I didn't get to partake in most of the activities.  I did get to scrap in the car though since Adam drove so I have a few pages to share with you!

I made this layout the other night for the Ad/Web Challenge over at ScrapArtist.  This is Adam and I at my cousin's wedding.  My cousin thought it would be a wonderful idea to have us bridesmaids where these dresses that were held up by a ribbon.... not a single bridesmaid had a bra size smaller than a C cup... needless to say, the ribbons started ripping before the ceremony  started and we had to try to sew our tops back together in the bathroom!  LOL.  Without further ado... my cleavage :)
