in my opinion at least....
Adam and I took a long weekend and flew down to Hutchinson Island to visit with my family. We go twice a year so my pictures have all started to look the same, this trip I tried to avoid the typical shots I always get and seek out some new images.
I started by foregoing the sunset pictures I take every year and replacing them with some night time shots. This first one was taken from my parents sunroom at about 9pm I think.
And this was taken from down on the dock that you see in the above pic
Both images were shot on a tripod with my new Super Wide Angle lens - I'm really loving it!
I also got some new takes on the critter shots. Every evening Adam and I walk down to the Calamondin Tree to pick a few as they make fantastic cocktails!!! Because Florida is going through a bit of a drought there were very few fruits on the tree but as I was reaching to grab a single ripe one I heard Adam yell out "WHOA! Look at that dragonfly!". I immedietly started freaking out, "where is it? is it close to me?" "Uhm.... yeah...". A mere few inches away from my hand sat this guy. He was HUGE!!! Probably 5 inches tip to tail!
Isn't he gorgeous?
On Sunday, we took a long boat ride down to Jupiter, stopped for lunch, some fishing, and some swimming. Down in Jupiter the pelicans where everywhere waiting for the fishing boats to come in!
I don't know if you can tell in this picture but the big guy in front was staring right at me, I was about 2 feet away from him and he didn't flinch, just kept an eye on me and kept on grooming!
On our way back up to Hutchinson, I spotted this Osprey on one of the Channel markers. When we got close, he took off and I noticed he was carrying a fish with him! Man I was so mad I missed the shot! But then I saw him land - on the next channel marker. I hurried up and switched lenses and by the time we got there I was able to capture him enjoying his lunch - so cool!!
And some of the fam. This is my brother and dad. Nice hair, Dad!
and this is probably the only picture from the trip that I'm actually in.
and lastly... some very typical Florida pics - Charlie. Charlie hangs out at my parents house pretty much all day long. You have to watch the doors because if you leave them open he walks right in. I went to hang a towel up outside and out of nowhere, Charlie is standing right next to me trying to get in the house. I threw him a fish and went back inside. A few minutes later we were cooking breakfast and spotted Charlie trying to sneak in the back. He was ready for breakfast too!
Ok, I won't be around too much this week. I am way way behind on CT commitments plus I have to work overtime so I can make up Monday and not lose a PTO day so I can take more vacations later! (My work has flextime, meaning as long as we work 40 hours we're good, no matter when we work them... so if I work my 40 hours between tuesday-Friday I don't have to take Monday off, thus saving me a vacation day for a future trip!)
Before I sign off I just wanted to remind you to hurry up and sign up for Queen of the Crop.
And I also wanted to direct your attention to something very very special in the works. It's going to be incredible.
